To help prepare you for your workshop, here are recommended timelines.

To reserve your place in a class. . .

____ Send registration and deposit along with a signed Cancellation Policy Agreement

____ Order Basalt Stones Set and or Accessories (6-8 week lead time)
Set contains stones only. Accessories include: Small-dial "Insta-read" Chef's Thermometer; heavy duty waterproof gloves "Bluettes"; Fresh 'n Clear spa oxidizer (from a pool supply store); large slotted wooden spoon; minnow net (found in a pet supply store). If you have trouble finding Fresh 'n Clear spa oxidizer, you can order it directly from Leslie's Pool Supply at 800-537-5437. Prior to class. . .

____ Purchase an 18-Quart Electric Roaster for heating Basalt Stones.
These can be found at stores such as WalMart and Target. Hamilton Beach Roasters can be ordered directly from Kitchen Collection for $80 plus shipping. Call 1-800-292-9150 or www.kitchencollection.com. Allow 3 weeks for delivery.

____ "Burn Off" roaster to eliminate new appliance smell.
Fill roaster insert half-way with water, turn on high and allow to "burn off" in a well-ventilated area for an hour or so. Outdoors is preferable.

____ Season Basalt Stones. When Basalt Stones arrive, please wash them in hot, soapy water, rinse in cool water and oil them with fine massage oil. This is truly a delightful process as the individual stones' markings and colors are beautifully revealed!

____ Three weeks prior to the class, you will receive a final confirmation letter with details regarding linen needs for the workshop, directions, financial statement, etc.

____ Two weeks prior to class, balance is due.

A note on parking:

Because the Amethyst Center is located in a part of Somerville, where there are no parking garages where you may park all day, we have developed a good logistical plan to make transit to and from the center as easy as possible.

On the first day of the workshop (Thursday) you will be asked to drive to my home in nearby Arlington, load all the equipment onto a van, which will take us to the Amethyst Center. At the end of class on Thursday the van will take you back to my home. The equipment remains at the Center. Then on Friday and Saturday, we ask you to take the 'T' (subway or bus) to and from the Center. We'll help each person figure out this part on Thursday.

Then on the last day, everyone will drive to the Amethyst Center and park, as meters are not in effect. Although we've tried several other ways to make it all work, we have found this to be the simplest. Please be sure to arrive promptly at my home (map and directions) at 8:00 am on Thursday morning so we will have ample time to get to the center and set up the room with massage tables and all our other supplies. Class will begin promptly at 9:00 am.
