Drawing on her extensive background in massage, Linda blends together her own unique style of work. A one hour session of Swedish/Deep Tissue Massage incorporates long deep strokes, passive range of motion for especially tight muscles and joints, creative positioning for easy access to deeper muscles and trigger point therapy for affected areas. Linda's background in Structural Integration provides her with the ability to see the whole picture when addressing chronic patterns of dysfunction and musculoskeletal imbalances.
Linda uses the Body Cushion® in her work. It is especially designed to help women feel more comfortable on a massage table. Most people enjoy the comfort of being on a specially contoured cushion which follows the natural curves of one's body, including spaces for the chest, abdomen and face. It's possible to be on your stomach, breathing deeply and having space for your chest and stomach to expand as you breathe. Naturally, a pregnant woman especially appreciates being able to lie on her stomach in complete comfort, while being fully supported.

LaStone Therapy
Linda was introduced to LaStone Therapy while she was visiting Santa Fe, New Mexico in October 1999. During the session, she was kinesthetically transported to a non-verbal place of awareness. Determined to learn the techniques and bring it to other therapists in the Boston area, she has become a producer for LaStone Therapy classes. Linda was trained in May of 2000.

The work itself is remarkable. The hot stones are made of basalt which holds heat for long periods of time. They are gathered from riverbeds near Tucson, Arizona, in other parts of the southwest and Mexico. The cool stones are made of marble and come from Colorado. These are used for areas of inflammation and chronic congestion.
Stones are used separately and in combination for different therapeutic effects. The deep and lasting heat of the basalt stones, melts tightness out of chronically contracted muscles. The muscle releases easily and effortlessly, infusing the central nervous system with new messages.
Cool marble stones reduce inflammation and produce a deep relief to areas where tendonitis has deeply set into the tissue. The effect is quite different from ice massage which can feel too cold and uncomfortable. People ask for more time with the marble stones vs. putting up with the discomfort of applying ice to affected areas.
In combination, hot followed immediately by cool, the result is a flushing of toxins out of the tissue in a dramatic way. Far more powerful and effective than its precursor, simple Swedish massage, LaStone Therapy systematically produces startling results.

Aromatherapy
Another specialty which Linda employs is the use of Aromatherapy, the use of specific essential oils to stimulate neuroreceptors, eliciting a healing response.
Aromatherapy can be incorporated into a massage therapy visit or can be a treatment all by itself. In an aromatherapy session, a specific blend is designed for you and applied to your skin. You are then wrapped in flannel while the oils are allowed to permeate the skin as you repose in stillness. This restorative therapy produces a feeling of serenity.
